Marathon Runner Decides To Rescue Little Puppy Carrying Him To The Finish Line For 19 Miles

After spotting a lost dog midway through a race, a marathon runner ended up receiving a different prize. Khemjira Klongsanun was running the Chombueng marathon in Ratchaburi, Western Thailand, when she noticed runners evading a puppy. She decided to pull over and check on the puppy because there were no houses, people, or other dogs in the area. She managed to lure the puppy, a bangkaew (Thai wolf dog), over to her despite his shaking and loneliness.

Khemjira picked up the dog and proceeded on the race, running 19 miles with the puppy in her arms, fearful for his safety and believing he was lost or abandoned. Another marathoner happened to see her running with the puppy and decided to record it. “This tiny guy appeared to be lost to me.” There were no houses, no other dogs, and no humans in the area. So I picked up the dog, if only to get him out of the dangerous situation,” Khemjira later told the press. “Running over 20 kilometers while carrying a dog was certainly a task,” she said.

It was twice as exhausting as a typical marathon, but I did it anyhow because he’s so cute.” She put out a call to see whether the puppy had gone missing, but no one responded, so she decided to adopt the puppy herself. He was given the name “Chombeueng” after the marathon, and he now lives with her two other dogs.
