Have you ever seen a dog keep an eye on a newborn baby while she is sleeping or awake? When you need someone to keep an eye on your child for a while, your loving and intelligent dog is an excellent choice. They are conscientious babysitters. They simply adore their new friend and are delighted to look after her. Ellie, an adorable and responsible pit bull babysitter, does the same thing with her baby sister. She is always concerned about her younger sister’s well-being.
“You can’t take Peytyn anywhere without Ellie following her”The first days when Kevin Smith and his wife rescued Ellie, she was too scared to move.

This pit bull seemed particularly frightened of people, especially men when adopted. But Smith refused to give up on her. He gradually earned her trust and showed her lots of love and comfort. Of course, he didn’t try in vain.

“At first, I was concerned because she was afraid to leave the ground. “She was frozen to the ground, and you could tell she’d had a rough life,” Smith explained to The Dodo. “She now wants everyone to love and pet her. She cries out for attention.”For years, this pit bull received all the love and care that an only child in the family deserves. When Smith’s wife became pregnant, they were concerned about Ellie’s reaction to their growing family.

Few months later, Ellie seemed to be ready to become a big sister. “When my wife was pretty close to her due date, Ellie used to lay her head on her belly and listen to her,” Smith said. “It was pretty much a nightly occurrence.”
When the pit bull was introduced to Peyton for the first time, she immediately fell in love with her baby sister.

“We had Peytyn in the bedroom, and usually Ellie is happy to see us, but she just went straight in to see Peytyn,” Smith explained.Ellie appears to be settling into her new role in the family. She works as a full-time babysitter and security guard for Peytyn, a 5-month-old boy. Ellie follows Peytyn wherever he goes, which was a little annoying at first.

“You can’t take Peytyn anywhere without Ellie,” Smith said. “You take Peytyn to the changing table, and Ellie is there checking on her baby… She simply sits there and stares at you. You pick her up to move her, and she comes after you.”
Ellie always checks on Peytyn to make sure she’s okay when her parents aren’t in the room. Ellie will come into Peytyn’s room to say hello, whether they’re eating dinner or taking a shower while watching the baby monitor.

“Ellie keeps a close eye on Peytyn,” Smith explained. “She just sticks her head right above the crib — she never goes into the crib, but she just stays above it and makes sure she’s OK.”
Baby Peytyn has grown accustomed to having Ellie nearby and has learned how to gently pet her dog. “Ellie’s always sitting next to her, putting her head on her leg, and Peytyn puts her hand on her head,” Smith explained. “Peytyn’s learned to pet her and be gentle with her.”
Smith and his wife have always adored pit bulls, but Smith is taken aback by Ellie’s unexpected devotion to his child. “The breed isn’t bad,” Smith commented. “They’re actually very gentle and caring.”
